ARTICLE 1: NAME
The Impact Movement (at the University of Akron)
ARTICLE 2: PURPOSE
The Impact Movement, a ministry of The Impact Movement, is an interdenominational, student, Christian organization seeking to provide a spiritual environment for students to grow in their relationship with God. We provide resources for students, weekly Bible Studies, and conferences and retreats every semester.
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
The Impact Movement was formed by Christians who agree in the belief that man’s only access to God is through Jesus Christ and faith in his deity, his death as full payment for man’s sins, and his resurrection. This is the foundation for the organization, and members can be anyone who has an active interest in the organization.
The Impact Movement at the University of Akron is open to all and shall practice no form or type of discrimination. As a religious organization we ask that all members agree to our purpose and Biblical principles in our statement of faith, but those holding other beliefs are welcome to attend and will be considered a visitor.
ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS
The officers shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
- The president shall have the power to establish and maintain operation procedures of the organization, call meetings, and answer for all actions of the other officers.
- The President shall be the student representative to the administration and faculty.
- The president shall also communicate regularly with student leaders from other universities and colleges that have Impact groups in the Northeast Ohio. The President will also be the student representative to the local leadership of The Impact Movement.
The vice president shall assist the president with all duties and assume duties in the absence of the president.
The secretary shall keep accurate records of all meetings and affairs and send information to organization members and the Impact Movement’s local leadership.
The treasurer shall receive and distribute organization funds with approval of the executive committee and in accordance with the financial rules and regulations of the College and the laws of the State of Ohio. The treasurer shall also coordinate fund-raising activities and work with the president if the need arises to request funding from the College.
The officers shall form the executive committee.
In order to be an officer / executive committee one must:
- Agree with Campus Crusade’s statement of faith
- Be involved in leadership of the organization (e.g. Bible Study Leader, Conference or Retreat Coordinator, etc.).
All officials must meet any and all requirements for holding office as stated in the Student Handbook.
ARTICLE V: ELECTIONS
Executive committee officers shall be selected by members at the last campus wide meeting of the Impact Movement for the school year, or at the annual Spring Retreat and be submitted to Department of Student Activities. The term of office for all officials shall begin on the last week of spring semester and end on the same day the following year.
Nomination for candidates for officers can be made by any member at meetings prior to selection.
Officers shall be selected by majority vote of those members present at meeting or Spring Retreat.
The order of succession shall be: 1) president, 2) vice president, 3) treasurer, 4) secretary.
ARTICLE VI: MEETINGS
General meetings will be held on campus at least twice a semester. Additional meetings can be called by the executive committee. Those participating in Impact functions will be notified in a timely manner through announcements at Bible Studies, phone calls, or by e-mail.
Additional prayer meetings or executive committee meetings will also meet on campus.
Article VIII: FUNDING
There are no dues or fees for participation in the organization.
Students will be required to finance their own way to Impact retreats or conferences.
To date, the organization has not requested University of Akron Student Life funds. In the future, if the executive committee believes it is an appropriate request, funds may be requested through procedures established by the Department of Student Activities.
ARTICLE VII: CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW
This constitution shall be reviewed on an annual basis and revised or rewritten as needed.
The Impact Movement’s national and local leadership reserves the right to review and revise the University of Akron chapter’s constitution, executive committee practices, meetings, Bible Studies, and other related leadership positions from time-to-time as deemed just and necessary. The Impact Movement at the University of Akron shall adopt and adhere to the practices and beliefs of The Impact Movement stated purposes and objectives and statement of faith.
